How to Take People from Fans ----> Superfans

Tips on Facebook Marketing from Amy Porterfield


Last week I watched a webinar about marketing on facebook. All the insights were shared by Amy Porterfield, a social media consultant. Visit her website http://www.amyporterfield.com for more background and other offers. 

Overall, the webinar was very basic but very informative. It lays out a simple attack plan to grow and cultivate a fan base, and teaches how to profit from those fans. For more information, see my notes below. Keep in mind, while all this information can help you build a cool facebook page, remember that social media is simply a vehicle to get your content out. Make sure that the blog, YouTube channel or whatever content you are linking to is a quality product. 

                  
                 Set up your facebook foundation
o   Branded Wall Image
§  Add company name and image
§  Take advantage of the 180x540 pixels
§  Highlight company’s URL
o   Keep things fun and friendly
o   Keep it simple to guarantee the like
o   Make that page the default that people land on when they land on your page, as opposed to the Wall
o   Use video to educate your audience
o   The Reveal Tab-"Click like to get..." (free download, free tips, etc.)
o   Click like, then have them put in their email so you can send them whatever content you have promised them. Once you have their email you can keep in touch and send them other offers and deals
o   Custom tabs to educate, promote and sell
o   Could use tab to promote an app
o   The profile timeline can be branded

Set up a LUCRATIVE fan base
o   Focus on the fans that have a vested interested in your services-you can’t be everything to everyone
o   Engagement ads are perfect for attracting your ideal fans. Facebook ads can be customized to reach people in specific demographic and geographic ranges


Create massive engagement
o   "Always provide value to your ideal customer with your social media activieites. You're only once click away form being unfollowed, unsubscribed from and unliked if youre not providing value.”
o   Ask smart questions on FB page
§  Users move fast on facebook
§  Before you post, think of likely responses
§  Responses should be short and entertaining
§  Make the question fun
§  Ask for feedback on something you’re working on
§  Ask for advice
§  Let your fans promote themselves
o   Create unique ways to get your fans involved
o   Don’t post and ditch, be consistent
o   Give your posts some meat: entertain with a personal story, empower your readers with a single lesson, action or takeaway
o   When you set yourself up as an authority, exhibit skill and build trust with your fans, that can increase yoru conversations outside of FB.
